The original 1970’s house was poorly constructed and insulated. After careful thought we felt demolition and replacement with a new house was the best solution.  Whilst the original house was tired architecturally, it was situated in a delightful setting with mature pine trees, lavender fields and, of course, abundant wildlife and squirrels.  The wooded setting suggested to us a very contemporary architectural approach could work, and we were interested in following a Modern Movement aesthetic - with horizontal floating planes, large glazed panels and horizontally emphasised oversailing roofs, sitting in the rustic landscape setting.
